all roads, but surprisingly many do. An excellent motorway
connection, several airports nearby and a great rail connection help
make sure that your visit begins with a relaxed journey to us.

Arriving by Train
German Rail offers a fast, attractive and environmentally friendly
way of travelling to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. During the weekends,
you can travel to and from Garmisch directly by ICE
(Intercity-Express). There are, for example, connections from and to
Berlin, Leipzig, Nürnberg (Nuremberg), Dortmund, the Ruhr region,
Köln (Cologne), Frankfurt, Würzburg, Hamburg, Hannover, Göttingen,
Kassel, Bamberg, and Innsbruck, where you do not have to change
trains. Additionally, there is a direct ICE service from Lübeck to
Garmisch-Partenkirchen and a direct ICE from Garmisch-Partenkirchen
to Bremen on Saturdays. A regional train runs hourly from Munich to
Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
If you prefer to have your car with you during your stay,
"AutoZug" (car transport train) connections to Munich are available
from Hamburg, Hildesheim, Berlin and Düsseldorf.
Arriving by Plane
If you prefer to travel by plane, you can fly to either Munich,
Stuttgart, Memmingen, Innsbruck and Zurich. Local agencies (car
rental, bus companies, travel agencies) are happy to organise your
journey from the airport if required.
By the way: Munich "Franz-Josef-Strauß" airport is only 120 km from
Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck airport is even closer – only 60km
away.

Getting Around After Arriving
Getting around in Garmisch-Partenkirchen without a car is no
problem. A local area "Kurkarte" (visitor's card) allows you to
travel on local buses for free. You will obtain your visitor's card
from your renter. For excursions in the surrounding area you can
travel by regional bus (RVO) or the German Rail.
